Sales Activities

Sales Activities Trigger makes your store look a lot busier, provides social proof and increases the store’s credibility. You can set up two different types of triggers: Sales Snippet and Sales Count.

Sales Snippet

The Sales Snippet displays the Name & the Location of recent buyers of the product in the format:
John from Chicago, Taylor from Miami and 7 others bought this item recently.

But here’s a basic setup that you need to follow to see this trigger in action.

Step #1: Activate the ‘Sales Snippet’ trigger

Go to WooCommerce > Settings > Sales Triggers: XL Plugins

Hover your cursor over the Sales Snippet trigger and hit the ‘Activate’ button to activate it.

Step #2: Create a demo product and buy it to test the trigger

Go to WooCommerce > Products > Add New

Create a demo product of your choice.

Next, add this product to your cart, proceed to checkout and buy it using demo credentials.

This is because the Sales Snippet trigger won’t work if a product hasn’t been purchased at all. In fact, there’ll be nothing to show that ‘X number of people have bought‘ since no one has bought it yet.

So make sure you’ve made at least 2-3 purchases from your demo account to see this trigger in action.

Once you’ve done that, you can then move on to customizing the trigger.

Settings

  1. Specify the number of days or the time duration for which this trigger is going to check the sales of your products. For example, if you specify ‘last 30 days’, the snippet will be generated based on the sales for the products in the last 30 days. But you can set the date range as 3 months, 6 months, 1 year or even a custom date range.
  2. Add/modify the snippet text that you want to show your customers. The merge tag {{sales_snippet}} displays the text “Buyer A from Location X, Buyer B from Location Y and N others” based on order history for the entered period. The verbiage of the merge tag automatically changes based on the number of orders:

If Order Count is 1, Verbiage: Buyer A from Location X
If Order Count is 2, Verbiage: Buyer A from Location X and Buyer B from Location Y
If Order Count is 3 (or >3), Verbiage: Buyer A from Location X, Buyer B from Location Y and N others

  3. Choose the type of output that you want to show your customers.
  4. Choose to hide the snippet text if the number of orders is less than a set threshold (say 3).
  5. Set the background color of the snippet, the color of the text and the border color here.

Sales Count

The Sales Count displays the count of sales of the product. You can display custom messages like:
6 items sold in the last 30 days
4 orders in the last 2 days
30 people already bought this item
8 orders in the last 1 day. Selling Fast!
You can display sales in these merge tags:

{{order_count}} displays total orders in given period
{{item_count}} displays total items sold in the given period.

Note: A single order may have more than one unit of the same item.In this case, {{order_count}} will have separate figure from {{item_count}} .It is recommended to display the merge tag with the highest count.

To see this trigger in action, make sure you have activated this trigger and bought a demo product using demo payments. Only then the number of orders for a product will increase from 0 to 1 and more, which will enable you to see the changes you make in this trigger.

Settings

Both the triggers have similar settings. The subtle difference is that they accept different merge tags and show different sales activity messages.

  1. Choose Default date range is set to 30 days. The snippet will be generated based on sales in last 30 days. However, you can change this to configure date range as 3 Months, 6 Months, 1 Year or can even set up custom date range.
  2. Modify sales count text using merge tags.
  3. Hide message if the number of orders is less than a certain number.
  4. Define the background-color, border-color, and color of the text here.
  5. Adjust the font size of the text.
  6. Select the position to display this message.
